Brazil's import price of photovoltaic modules rises by 20%

Nov 09, 2021
According to a recent report by Brazilian consulting firm Greener, between January and September 2021, the average price of solar modules imported into the Brazilian photovoltaic market rose by 20.4%. The current average price of imported single crystal PERC modules is US$0.24/W, an increase of 3.95% from the average price in August. Greener believes that prices will continue to rise, possibly until 2022. Despite price increases, imports continue to grow. Since January, about 6,641 MW of photovoltaic modules and 6,890 MW of inverters have been imported. Module imports in September reached 672 MW, lower than the level of the first five months of this year, but an increase of 121.5% year-on-year. Single-sided modules accounted for 57.3% of the monthly total, and high-power modules (above 500 W) accounted for 30%, 209 MW.
